How to cook steamed buns

Steam our filled buns from frozen for the lightest, fluffiest results, or microwave for a quick, convenient option.

  1. 1. Line a bamboo or metal steamer with perforated baking paper, or lightly spray the base with oil to ensure that the buns don’t stick.
  2. 2. Fill a pot one third full of water and bring to the boil.
  3. 3. Position the buns inside the steamer and place it over the pot of boiling water.
  4. 4. Reduce the heat to a simmer.
  5. 5. Steam for 12-15 minutes, or until the buns are soft and heated all the way through.
Microwaved

  1. 1. Use water to wet all surfaces of the frozen bun (this will ensure that the dough doesn’t crack when heated).
  2. 2. Place bun on a plate in the microwave.
  3. 3. Heat on high for a approximately 90 seconds.
  4. 4. Please note: cooking times may vary according to microwave power and quantity cooked.
